I met Elisa one hot summer`s day afternoon and the warm air gave us that taste of a good summer yet to end. Elisa knew roughly that she wanted her hair up at the crown. She had extremely long and thick hair all of which she wanted out of the way so as to allow her to relax. We decided to be creative using the delicate lace and pinned that into the style to add something a little special to the hair style given the whole vibe of the wedding. She was getting married at Chedworth Church and holding the reception at Cripps barn in the Cotswolds.

Elisa organised most of her day single handed with the help of friends and family. Her wedding dress was being made by her very good friend who was still at University and based in Germany. This was one of those don’t stress, feel free and relax weddings. If you had just walked into the room where we were getting ready, you wouldn’t have guessed someone was getting married on the day until you had seen the wedding dress. Yet the emotions were plainly visible from every little detail on the beautifully wrapped tinny gifts right to the thread and ribbons that actually tied the delicate little surprises of the day and especially so for mum and dad who had travelled that far to be there for their special daughter.
    What a beautiful family.

That was one of the best days of my career and very happy to have been there. It reminded me of how little things that we take for granted can make such a huge impact on one`s life. You may have already seen these images somewhere else on my website. They were taken by Gemma Williams photography who kindly allowed me to use them here on my website. You can view more of Gemma`s work on her website. It was the first time I had worked with Gemma and she was a real pleasure to be with, gentle and invisible through the morning. Very relaxing http://www.gemmawilliamsphotography.co.uk  The make up was on this occasion done by Vanessa.

I had a lovely card and message from Elisa which made me laugh so hard I was in tears. “Thanks again for all your help, you made me and everybody feel so calm on the day. Jon said that my hair looked beautiful and that he couldn`t believe that you managed to fit the lace in so elegantly. He also said that he's never had to remove so much metal (hair clips) from my hair before! :)”

I have been wanting to blog about weddings planned from abroad for ages and with so many to choose from, it is difficult to choose which one I should start with. Randomly, I will start with Sonica who got married last year at the manor by the Lake in Cheltenham.
Sonica my American bride lived in Chicago. On first contact she said, “Since I am planning the wedding from the US it is a bit difficult to come out for a trial….” and with her family in different locations abroad, it was difficult for us to meet up before the day.

And since it was a short notice enquiry our only option was to meet on the actual wedding day. We met just a few hours before her vows.  I don’t personally recommend this option but she trusted me to take on the appointment and her belief in me was more than I had expected.
It takes a lot of organising discipline to plan a destination wedding outside your country of residence and the amount of emailing from both sides can be over whelming and time consuming but every minute spent on getting the details right is time worth spent.

In this case, I would say, you cannot have enough information from your suppliers so I recommend that you do ask as many questions as possible for a better understanding of your requirements. Armed with the all the information she had provided, I was able to offer my services just as she had imagined. It was a successful hairstyling morning.

Sonica, I would like to say thanks to you for wonderful review you posted to me and on google and the trust and kindness you showed on the day. All the way from the states without prior knowledge of whom you are asking to style your hair is in itself an honour so thank you.  Also a special thanks to Adam Riley Photography for allowing me to use his images below to show off Sonica`s style. It is through kindness like this that I am able to show of my work which is ever helpful to future clients so thanks to you both. For more on Sonica`s day, click Adam Riley

This is my last entry for today. Having been a guest at a friend`s wedding on Saturday, I have been recovering from partying over the weekend.  All day I have been trying to catch up with what has been happening here at Sheena`s Wedding Hairstyles. With loads of catch up emails to send out, trial dates to confirm, enquiries to answer, a bride to style tomorrow, juggling the piled up house work errands as well as remembering family duties, I feel knackered. But hang on, don’t leave just yet. Can I just say that since I received some beautiful images from Rachel Jones who was Jackie`s photographer, I have been excited to share these images for a long time now?

So I am just going to let you in on the styling for this wedding through the images and the beautiful message from Jackie who got married at the beginning of this year at the panoramic Fox hill manor near Broadway.  Can you believe this, Jackie on the morning after her wedding, she sent me this lovely message with an attached image of her and Jonathan on the dance floor.
    “Hi sheena
Just to say how delighted I was with my wedding hair - perfect ! The girls looked divine - so beautiful and they felt like princesses .  It was an absolute pleasure to meet you - so professional and cool x I hope you will do my girls hair in the years to come. Grateful thanks.
Jackie and Jonathan who was blown away by his bride.”

Oh! How sweet. I have to say that I think I have a great job and the best hobby ever! For me anyway! Honestly. Now I will let you enjoy the beautiful images showing the hairstyling for the day by Rachel Jones Photography. Have a nice week, XSheena.

Jane`s wedding is another one of those last summer that I was lucky to be part of. Jane wanted to be a natural bride all around and especially so hair wise. The morning of her wedding day was a beautiful sunny one fresh breeze and sleepy and just like the little village Leighterton where she was getting ready. The village has a romantic setting. Consumed with making sure the style looked naturally imperfect and effortless the morning slipped away so quickly that I hardly noticed until it was veil time.  Emily as ever did her magic.
Jane was all smiles throughout and I think as a team we had another happy bride. Jane`s Venue was the rectory at Crudwell. The wonderful Penny Young has been very kind to allow me to use her images showing the hair here below but there is more about this day if you follow the link to see more on Penny`s website http://www.pennyyoungphotography.com/the-rectory-hotel-wedding-photos-crudwell-wiltshire-photographer/
